With headquarters in San Ramon, Chevron Corporation is one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies. Chevron officials recently announced the California Partnership, a $7 million initiative to enhance their investments in education and economic development through non-profit organizations in their home state.
The event featured a unique panel discussion – moderated by our President & Chief Executive Officer Nicole Taylor – featuring representatives of innovative non-profit organizations speaking about new models that breed success in education and economic development. Organizations participating in the discussion were:
- DonorsChoose, an online charity helping students in need;
- Teach for America, which recruits outstanding recent college graduates from all backgrounds and career interests to commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools;
- Project Lead the Way, which prepares students to be the most innovative and productive leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and to make meaningful, pioneering contributions to the world; and
- Kiva, which is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to unique entrepreneurs around the globe.
